Israel Issues Tenders for New Housing Units in West Bank and Delays E1 Project Timelines

Qalqilia:Israeli occupation authorities have issued tenders for the construction of 91 colonial housing units in the Oranit settlement, which is situated on land belonging to the Qalqilia governorate in the occupied West Bank.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the tenders involve 86 units in a multi-story residential project and five units in a low-rise housing project. Tender No. 224/2026, published on November 5, includes four residential complexes with 86 units, with the bidding process set to begin on November 15 and end on December 21. Tender No. 228/2026, published on November 3, covers five low-rise units across three complexes, with bid submissions opening on November 16 and concluding on December 29, though detailed tender documents were not yet available as of November 5.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission highlighted that these announcements are only for tenders and do not mean construction or contract awards have commenced. In another development, Israeli authorities have adjusted the schedule for tender No. 460/2025, which involves 2,167 housing units under the E1 project near the Ma'ale Adumim settlement. The tender documents’ publication and bidding start have been postponed to December 1, with the submission deadline extended to December 28.

The commission clarified that these changes pertain solely to the tender timeline, not its cancellation or a reduction in the planned number of units. The total number of housing units for the E1 project remains at 3,401, combining 2,167 units from tender No. 460/2025 and 1,234 units from another tender, No. 186/2026.
