Jenin:The Israeli occupation authorities issued a military order on Tuesday to seize 8.645 dunums of land in the village of Deir Abu Da'if, located east of Jenin. The order claims the land is needed for military purposes, marking another step in the ongoing targeting of Palestinian land in the Jenin Governorate.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, Tariq Ighbaria, who oversees the settlements file in the Jenin Governorate, stated that the land targeted by this order is near the "Ganim" settlement. This area had already seen the re-establishment of a settlement outpost several months prior. The military order is part of ongoing measures aimed at Palestinian-owned land surrounding settlements and colonial outposts in the region.
Ighbaria further explained that the occupation authorities often use military and security justifications to seize Palestinian land, resulting in property owners being barred from accessing or using their land. This contributes to creating a new geographical reality that hinders the growth of Palestinian communities while aiding colonial expansion at the locals' expense.
The targeting extends beyond Deir Abu Da'if, as the Jenin Governorate experiences increased military seizure orders, the construction of colonial roads, the leveling of agricultural land, and the uprooting of trees. These activities are part of a larger strategy to consolidate control over Palestinian-owned land and isolate villages and towns from their agricultural surroundings.
These policies pose a significant threat to the livelihoods of local residents, limiting both urban and agricultural development and making it increasingly difficult for landowners to access their properties.
