Washington:U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the annual U.S. financial support to Israel, valued at approximately $3.8 billion, by the end of the year.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, Trump's announcement came during an interview on Fox News, where he stated that the agreement to halt the annual transfers, estimated at around $4 billion, had been reached months ago.
Trump explained that both parties agreed to stop the payments, saying, "We made a deal months ago that we're stopping," and adding, "We won't be paying anymore." He noted that Israel is in agreement with this decision, as the country has become very successful and does not need the financial support.
Despite the halt in funding, Trump assured that the U.S. remains ready to assist Israel in times of need, emphasizing Israel's status as a great ally.
