Israeli Forces Order Evacuation of Families in Jenin Area

Jenin:Israeli occupation forces have issued an order for families residing in Khirbet Srouj, near the town of al-Yamoun, west of Jenin, to evacuate their homes, structures, and livestock shelters within one week.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the residents were verbally notified of the evacuation order during a raid by Israeli forces. The affected area includes more than seven homes and ten livestock sheds belonging to the Abu al-Haija, Abu Sifein, and Yahya families. These families have been settled in the hamlet since 1950 and hold land authorization documents from 1960.

Mohammad Abu al-Haija, a resident of the area, expressed concern that the eviction order threatens not only the families' homes but also their primary means of livelihood, which includes livestock farming and agriculture. The families fear being displaced from land they have been connected to for decades, jeopardizing their social stability and future.

Additionally, there are concerns that the evacuated land could be used to establish a new Israeli settlement, further complicating the situation for the displaced families.
