Gaza:The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has reported that 351 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025. The organization has urged Israeli authorities to implement decisive measures to protect children in the region.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Edouard Beigbeder, emphasized the need for Israeli authorities to ensure transparent and rigorous accountability in cases involving the death or injury of children, particularly those resulting in permanent disabilities.
UNICEF highlighted that over the past six days, eight children have been killed and 20 injured. Beigbeder called for effective measures to prevent further violence and to uphold international humanitarian law, which guarantees special protection for children. He stated that the level of violence against children is unacceptable, noting that survivors face challenges in their recovery due to the collapse of Gaza's healthcare system.
The agency further reported that around 800,000 children in Gaza remain displaced, with approximately 60,000 having lost one or both parents during the war or since the ceasefire. UNICEF stressed the urgent need for mental health support for nearly every child in Gaza amidst ongoing displacement and the decline of essential services.
