Gaza:Vice President of the State of Palestine Hussein Al-Sheikh engaged in a phone conversation with Kaja Kallas, Vice President of the European Commission and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The discussion centered on recent political and field developments in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, as well as the upcoming Palestinian legislative elections scheduled for November.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Al-Sheikh highlighted the ongoing crimes by Israeli colonists and systematic violations in the West Bank, emphasizing the worsening security and humanitarian conditions. He also pointed out the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip, urging for continuous international efforts to provide relief and aid to the Palestinian people.
Al-Sheikh expressed gratitude for the European Union’s consistent stance on the Palestinian cause and its ongoing aid to Gaza. He underscored the significance of European support in overcoming obstacles that may impede the electoral process, ensuring full participation of Palestinians across the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
Kallas affirmed the EU’s readiness to deploy an election observation mission for the Palestinian legislative elections in November, stressing the need for credible, inclusive, and transparent elections. This commitment aligns with the EU’s publicly declared support for the Palestinian electoral process.
