Ramallah:Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh of the State of Palestine welcomed Bassem Abdel Hadi, the newly appointed Egyptian ambassador to Palestine, discussing the strong ties between the two nations.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the meeting covered ways to enhance cooperation and coordination, as well as current political, national, and regional issues.
Al-Sheikh expressed hope for Abdel Hadi's success in his new role and highlighted the historical relationship between Palestine and Egypt. He emphasized Egypt's significant support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of its people.
During the discussion, Al-Sheikh updated Abdel Hadi on efforts to alleviate the suffering in the Gaza Strip, promote humanitarian aid, and maintain the unity of Palestinian land and governance. He also underscored the importance of consolidating the ceasefire, facilitating aid, supporting reconstruction, and advancing a political process toward an independent Palestinian state.
The conversation also covered mutual concerns such as preparations for Palestinian elections and the situation in the West Bank, including settler violence and withheld Palestinian funds. Ambassador Abdel Hadi reaffirmed Egypt's dedication to supporting the Palestinians and strengthening bilateral relations, emphasizing Egypt's role in advocating for Palestinian national rights and statehood.
