Jerusalem:The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation of the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards by individuals described as extremists within the Israeli occupation government. This act, along with ongoing incursions by colonists and their provocative rituals performed under the protection of occupation forces, has been criticized by the OIC.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, The OIC has labeled these actions as a blatant attack on the sanctity of the mosque and a provocation to Muslims worldwide. The organization reiterated its stance that Israel, as an occupying power, lacks sovereignty over the Palestinian Territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
The OIC emphasized that any measures intended to alter the legal, historical, geographical, and demographic status of these areas are considered null and void under international law and relevant international resolutions. The General Secretariat held the Israeli occupation fully accountable for the potential repercussions of these escalating violations.
The organization warned of the dangers of igniting a religious conflict that could compromise regional and broader security and stability. It called on the international community to take immediate action to halt these attacks and to maintain the current historical and legal status quo of the holy sites, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
