Ramallah:The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) reported a significant increase in the Producer Price Index (PPI) for August 2026, with the PPI reaching 216.43.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, the PPI for products consumed locally saw a sharp rise of 14.60% compared to July 2026, reaching 227.04. Meanwhile, the PPI for local exported products rose by 1.37% to 117.42.
The changes in the PPI were attributed to fluctuations in several major economic activities. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing experienced a notable increase of 24.08%, while the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sectors saw a rise of 2.10%. In contrast, there were declines in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities by 1.57%, mining and quarrying by 0.12%, and manufacturing by 0.09%.
