Arab League and OIC Discuss Jerusalem at UN Meeting

New York:The League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened a high-level meeting focused on Jerusalem. This discussion took place alongside the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency , Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy urged the global community to take concrete actions beyond mere condemnation to safeguard Jerusalem and its sacred sites. Fahmy emphasized the need to pressure Israel to cease its colonial and expansionist activities, forced displacements, and the appropriation of Palestinian land.

A statement from the Arab League highlighted Fahmy's firm opposition to attempts to change the geographic and demographic situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. He criticized Israel's daily actions and policies aimed at altering the identity, character, and legal and historical status of Jerusalem.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of ongoing Israeli activities in occupied East Jerusalem, including settlement expansion, land seizures, demolitions, and restrictions impacting Palestinian residents and the city's Islamic and Christian holy sites.
