Qalqilya:Israeli authorities have issued a tender for the construction of 400 housing units in the "Karnei Shomron" settlement, which is situated on Palestinian land east of Qalqilya, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency €œ WAFA, this tender, identified as number 196/2026, is part of a larger colonial construction project aimed at expanding existing settlements and enhancing their housing capacity. The deadline for the tender is set for November 23, 2026.
The Commission explained that this tender represents a shift from planning to the marketing and implementation phase of the project. It occurs amid a broader acceleration of settlement activities in the West Bank this year.
The "Karnei Shomron" settlement holds strategic importance within the Israeli settlement scheme for the northwestern West Bank. Its location is significant as it is part of a settlement bloc that is being expanded and linked to nearby settlements and outposts, a process that extends the reach of settlement activity, impacts Palestinian land, and disrupts geographical continuity in the West Bank.
