Hebron:Israeli occupation authorities have approved two plans for the construction of 567 new colonial units in the Hebron Governorate.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency WAFA, one of the plans involves building 342 units in the Asa'el colony, located on the lands of As-Samu town. The other plan includes 225 units in the Beit Hagai colony, situated on lands of Al-Rihiya in Dura town.
Both plans had previously advanced through earlier planning stages. On September 23, during a session of the 'Planning Council,' these plans were moved to the approval stage, making them effective and allowing for the continuation of implementation and construction procedures.
The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC) stated that these approvals are part of a broader strategy to expand settler-colonialism and formalize planning status for colony sites. The Asa'el plan is a critical step toward completing its planning status, while the Beit Hagai plan will substantially increase its size.
CWRC emphasized that these measures contribute to altering Palestinian geography in the southern West Bank by expanding colonial settlement areas, consolidating land seizure, and connecting colonies through roads and infrastructure.
