EU Condemns Escalating Colonist Terrorism in Occupied West Bank

Gaza: The European Union expressed deep concern over the escalating colonist terrorism in the occupied West Bank, reiterating its condemnation of the 'violent activities of colonists' against Palestinians. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, European Commission spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Anouar El Anouni addressed the issue during his daily press briefing on Tuesday evening. He referenced recent statements by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. El Anouni highlighted that the ongoing colonist activities in the West Bank are a significant issue, prompting coordinated condemnation from the EU and its member states. He reiterated that settlements are deemed illegal under international law and urged Israel to cease all settlement activity and expansion. In response to the violence, the EU has implemented three sanction packages targeting extremist settlers and associated organizations under the EU Glob al Human Rights Sanctions Regime. These measures focus on 12 individuals and nine organizations, with further sanction proposals under consideration by the Council. El Anouni also mentioned that the Council of the European Union has yet to finalize any conclusions, noting that the decision on subsequent actions remains with the member states.
