Gaza: Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece reaffirmed their steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and stressed the need to achieve a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. This includes establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the position was outlined in a joint declaration issued following the tripartite El Alamein Summit. The summit was attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The declaration highlighted the need to advance the implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's comprehensive plan to resolve the conflict in Gaza, along with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. This plan aims to facilitate the reconstruction and early recovery efforts in Gaza and to preserve the unity of the Palestinian territories.
The three countries expressed deep concern about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the necessity for humanitarian assistance to reach the civilian population safely, rapidly, and on a large scale.
They also stressed the importance of maintaining the geographic, political, and legal contiguity between the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip, rejecting any attempts to separate the two, including through policies aimed at the forced displacement of Palestinians.
The summit reiterated the importance of upholding the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
At the conclusion of the summit, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to the Egyptian-Cypriot-Greek partnership and expressed their determination to continue working together towards a more secure, stable, and prosperous region. They intend to build on past achievements and further strengthen their partnership to support peace, development, and cooperation across the region.
