Gaza city: An Israeli strike on Thursday evening resulted in the death of a Palestinian and left several others injured in the Rimal neighborhood, west of Gaza City. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, an Israeli combat drone targeted a group of civilians near the Near East Council of Churches (NECC) building on Ath-Thawara Street, firing at least two missiles. The attack claimed one life and caused injuries to others, some of whom sustained serious wounds.
The victims were swiftly transported to Al-Shifa Medical Complex for medical attention. The Israeli military action is part of a broader campaign that began on October 7, 2023. Since then, 73,470 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed, and 174,540 injured. The assault has devastated 90% of Gaza's infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated at $70 billion.
Following the Gaza ceasefire agreement on October 11, 2025, Israeli operations have resulted in at least 1,320 Palestinian deaths and 4,385 injuries. During the same period, the bodies of 815 Palestinians have been recovered. Additionally, over 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, believed to be trapped under the debris of destroyed homes.
The ongoing conflict has forced nearly two million people to flee their homes across the Gaza Strip. Most of the displaced have crowded into the southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border, marking Palestine's largest mass displacement since the 1948 Nakba.
