Gaza: Israeli occupation authorities have established a new settlement named 'Noa' on Palestinian-owned land southeast of Jenin, situated south of the settlements of Ganim and Kadim.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, a ceremony marking the establishment of the settlement was held with the attendance of several Israeli ministers and Knesset members. This event underscores the growing official Israeli support for settlement expansion within the occupied Palestinian territories.
The establishment of 'Noa' aligns with the ongoing Israeli settlement project in the northern West Bank, especially in areas evacuated by Israeli settlements in 2005 as part of the 'Disengagement' plan. Recently, this region has witnessed the establishment of settlement outposts, expanded land leveling and road construction, and the seizure of Palestinian land.
The creation of the new settlement is part of a broader initiative aimed at imposing new settlement realities on the ground by founding new settlement communities and expanding existing ones. This development poses a threat to Palestinian agricultural land and disrupts the geographic contiguity between towns and cities in Jenin Governorate and its surrounding areas.
