Health Condition of Wounded Palestinian Detainee Maatan Stabilizes After Surgery

Gaza: The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs announced that the health condition of 25-year-old Palestinian detainee Os Maatan from Burqa, located east of Ramallah, has stabilized following surgery on his left leg. The surgery was necessitated after Maatan sustained injuries from live ammunition.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, surgeons successfully inserted a metal plate to stabilize Maatan's shattered bone. The injury occurred when Maatan, a civil engineer, was shot by Israeli forces at the 'Karmelo' military checkpoint on August 23.

Maatan is currently awaiting a hearing at the Israeli military court located at the Ofer detention facility. The hearing, scheduled for Thursday, will determine whether his detention will be extended.
