Gaza: Palestinian Ambassador to China Jawad Awad engaged in discussions with Gao Biao, Deputy Director-General of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of West Asian and North African Affairs, regarding recent developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Ambassador Awad shared insights into the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, affected by ongoing conflicts. He conveyed a message from President Mahmoud Abbas to Chinese President Xi Jinping, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing shared concerns, particularly those involving the United Nations and future Palestinian political strategies.
Ambassador Awad detailed the Israeli military escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including raids, property demolitions, and restrictions on Palestinian movement. He emphasized the increasing attacks by settlers on Palestinian communities and lands. Moreover, he highlighted the risks of the E1 settlement plan, which could fragment the West Bank, isolate East Jerusalem, and hinder the creation of a contiguous Palestinian state, affecting the viability of a two-state solution.
Gao Biao reiterated China's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, condemning actions by settlers and Israeli policies that violate international law. He expressed China's commitment to a fair resolution based on the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in alignment with international law and UN resolutions.
