Ramallah: The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, strongly condemned the dangerous escalation of violence carried out by terrorist settler militias, under the direct protection of the Israeli forces, against Palestinians and their property throughout the occupied West Bank.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, Al-Yamahi stated in a press release that this escalation has resulted in several Palestinians being killed and injured, as well as the burning of homes and property, and attacks on Palestinian villages and towns. He described these acts as a dangerous escalation that amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
He highlighted that the organized terrorist attacks by colonist militias in the West Bank, supported by the extremist occupation government, indicate a systematic policy aimed at terrorizing the Palestinian people. Al-Yamahi emphasized that these actions are intended to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land and impose a colonial reality by force, in clear violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions, and resolutions of international legitimacy.
Al-Yamahi further argued that the continued killings, extrajudicial assassinations, and escalating attacks by colonists on unarmed civilians and their property reflect the occupation's determination to expand its aggression in the West Bank. He pointed out that these actions are occurring in tandem with genocide, starvation, and destruction in the Gaza Strip, aiming to impose new realities on the ground and undermine the prospects for achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
The Speaker urged the international community, including the Security Council, the United Nations, and the International Criminal Court, to take immediate action to provide international protection for the Palestinian people. He called for an end to colonial terrorism, accountability for occupation leaders and settlers involved in these crimes, and the imposition of deterrent sanctions on the occupation. Al-Yamahi also demanded a halt to all forms of support that contribute to ongoing grave violations.
Additionally, he called for the inclusion of colonist militias and armed terrorist organizations on national and international terrorism lists, labeling them as groups practicing organized terrorism against Palestinian civilians. He advocated for a ban on dealings with settlements and the suspension of any privileges or agreements with the occupying government until it fully complies with international law and resolutions.
Finally, Al-Yamahi emphasized that the occupation's impunity has encouraged the escalation of its crimes, urging the international community to implement practical and binding measures to halt the aggression, end the occupation, and realize the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, particularly the establishment of an independent and sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
