Gaza: President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Doha to extend his condolences following the passing of the former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas met with the current Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to express his sympathies for the loss of his father. The meeting underscored the close ties between the Palestinian and Qatari leaderships.
Upon his arrival at Lusail Palace, President Abbas and his delegation were received by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The delegation was also greeted at Hamad International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, alongside Palestine's Ambassador to Qatar, Fayez Abu Al Rab.
Accompanying President Abbas was an official delegation that included Vice President and Vice Chairman of the PLO Executive Committee Hussein Al Sheikh, PLO Executive Committee Member Ziad Abu Amr, Fatah Central Committee Member Yasser Abbas, and the President's Diplomatic Adviser Majdi Al-Khaldi.
