Israeli Colonists Attack Local Council Team in Asira al-Qibliya

Gaza: Israeli colonists attacked on Tuesday the staff of the village council in Asira al-Qibliya, south of Nablus. The incident occurred as the council team was working to extinguish a fire in the area.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the head of the village council, Abdul Qader Makhlouf, stated that he, along with council members and staff, had gone to address a fire that had broken out between Asira al-Qibliya and the nearby village of Urif. After they successfully managed to put out the fire, the group was confronted by colonists from the nearby Yitzhar settlement. The colonists attacked the team by throwing stones and spraying pepper gas.

The attack highlights ongoing tensions in the region, where local Palestinian communities often face confrontations with settlers from nearby settlements. The incident underscores the challenges faced by local councils in carrying out their duties amidst such hostilities.
