Ramallah: The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Trkiye have jointly condemned the recent escalation of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. This includes attacks on mosques in Jiljilya and Mazri' Al-Nubani, located north of Ramallah.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the ministers issued a statement declaring these attacks as violations of the sanctity of places of worship and religious sites. They emphasized that such actions contravene international law, including international humanitarian law, and United Nations resolutions.
The statement expressed the ministers' strong rejection of the settler attacks and criticized Israel's continued unilateral and illegal actions in the occupied Palestinian territory. These actions, the ministers stated, contribute to instability, violence, and extremism, undermining international peace efforts.
The ministers held Israel responsible for the attacks, as the occupying power, and urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities. They called for Israel to halt its escalation in the occupied West Bank, cease unlawful practices, stop settler violence, hold perpetrators accountable, and prevent impunity.
In their statement, the foreign ministers reaffirmed their solidarity with the Palestinian people and supported their right to self-determination. They advocated for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Furthermore, the ministers reiterated their backing for efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace. This, they asserted, should be based on the two-state solution, in line with international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
