UN Commission: Israeli Authorities Involved in Colonists’ Attacks on Palestinians

Jerusalem: The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory said in a new report on Tuesday that Israeli authorities are directly involved in colonists' attacks, which have resulted in the killing, injury, and displacement of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank.

According to Palestine news and Information Agency, the Commission stated that Palestinian civilians are systematically and deliberately subjected to gross human rights violations. The report highlighted that colonists' violence in the West Bank serves not only as a tool to implement Israeli state policies but also targets the same strategic objectives of maintaining the illegal occupation, annexing Palestinian land, and displacing Palestinians from their territories.

The Commission further elaborated that acts of harassment and intimidation perpetrated by colonists against Palestinian women and girls severely restrict their daily activities, preventing them from accessing public spaces, schools, and workplaces. Chair of the Commission Srinivasan Muralidhar emphasized that violence by colonists is the direct outcome of Israeli policies that support, enable, and protect their actions.

Muralidhar called for Israel to cease supporting this violence and ensure that its security forces safeguard the Palestinian civilian population. The Commission's report is scheduled to be presented to the Human Rights Council's 62nd session on 15 June 2026 in Geneva.
