Hebron: Three Palestinians on Tuesday evening sustained injuries due to a colonist attack in Masafer Yatta, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to a media activist.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Osama Makhamra stated that Israeli colonists attacked the Palestinian community of Rujum I'li, resulting in three casualties. The casualties, all identified as members of the Al-Adra clan, included a minor.
Israeli forces did not remain idle as the colonists carried out the attack, but detained three people; two members of the community and a female foreign solidarity activist. The attack extended beyond the immediate community, with colonists targeting herders and attempting to steal their sheep, as well as attacking the communities of Khallet Amira and Umm al-Qubur. Several Palestinians suffered excessive tear gas inhalation as a result.
Violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Such violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others. Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
