Ramallah: Israeli authorities have issued and renewed administrative detention orders against 22 detainees. This development highlights ongoing tensions in the region concerning the use of administrative detention.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency - WAFA, the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission, along with the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS), reported that the Israeli occupation authorities continue to escalate their reliance on administrative detention. The orders are often justified under the pretext of a "secret file," a practice that has drawn significant criticism.
The joint statement from these organizations revealed that the number of administrative detainees had reached 3,442 by the beginning of March. This figure underscores concerns regarding the use of administrative detention, which allows for the holding of individuals without charge or trial, based on undisclosed evidence.
