CEC Completes Accreditation for 2026 Local Elections Observers and Media Organizations

Gaza: The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced the closure of accreditation for observer bodies and media organizations set to cover the 2026 Local Elections. These elections are scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, across 183 local authorities.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the CEC reported that a total of 69 local observer bodies have been accredited, represented by 2,533 observers. This includes an additional 125 guest and international observers. Concerning media coverage, 113 media organizations have received accreditation, of which 14 are international, with a total of 740 journalists either representing these organizations or working independently.

The CEC has made all relevant information and statistics available on its website, including the names and locations of the local authorities participating in the elections. The commission has been working to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place, emphasizing readiness with 491 polling centers prepared to open on election day, including 12 centers located in Deir al-Balah in Gaza.

In preparation for the local elections, the CEC highlighted that the number of eligible voters across the participating local authorities exceeds one million, as per the final voters' registry.
