Jerusalem Governorate Condemns Temple Mount Groups’ Call to Storm Al-Aqsa as “Dangerous Bid to Impose Control”

Jerusalem: The Jerusalem Governorate has issued a stern warning regarding the escalating incitement by extremist Temple Mount groups, who are urging their supporters to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and raise the Israeli flag inside it next Wednesday, citing "Independence Day" as their justification. The Governorate views this move as a dangerous provocation, a direct attack on the sanctity of the mosque, and an overt attempt to impose a Judaized reality by force.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Governorate released a statement today emphasizing that these calls are part of a coordinated plan led by the Israeli occupation authorities, with the involvement of settlers, to seize full control over the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. This would be achieved by increasing incursions and violations, thereby imposing a reality by force that flagrantly violates international laws and conventions.

The statement further criticizes attempts to frame these actions as an "expression of sovereignty," labeling them as blatant deception that will not provide any legitimacy over Al-Aqsa Mosque, which remains the sole right of Muslims, regardless of the escalation of attacks.

The Jerusalem Governorate also highlighted that the ongoing incitement, amid a backdrop of international silence, emboldens the occupation authorities to continue their violations, exploiting regional circumstances to advance their plans in clear disregard of international law and the sentiments of millions of Muslims globally.

The statement underscores that the incitement campaigns led by groups associated with the so-called "Temple" against the Governorate's efforts to warn against these extremist schemes targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque will not deter it from its duties. The Governorate is committed to documenting violations against Jerusalem and its holy sites, presenting them on various international platforms, and working to mobilize a broad international stance against these attacks.

Furthermore, the Governorate calls on Arab and international media to enhance their coverage of these violations, urging them not to view these incidents in isolation but as part of a systematic policy aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The statement concludes by stressing the need for urgent and effective international action to halt the occupation's aggression and stop its attempts to assert sovereignty over the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque.
