UN Chief Warns Against Undermining Two-State Solution Amid Global Human Rights Violations

Geneva: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted alarming trends that threaten the viability of the two-state solution, emphasizing its erosion in plain sight. He stated that the international community must not permit this situation to continue.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Secretary-General addressed the Human Rights Council, focusing on the evident violations of human rights, dignity, and international law in the occupied Palestinian Territory. Guterres stressed the global assault on human rights, where the rule of law is being overshadowed by the rule of force.

Guterres remarked that these violations are not hidden or unexpected; rather, they are prominently visible and sometimes orchestrated by those in positions of power. The intentional and strategic pushback against human rights was a key concern highlighted by the UN chief.

He further elaborated on the current global climate where mass suffering is often disregarded, human lives are manipulated as bargaining tools, and international law is frequently dismissed as inconvenient. Guterres warned that the erosion of human rights could lead to broader societal collapse, emphasizing the critical need for global vigilance and action.
