Bethlehem: A Palestinian civilian sustained an injury during a colonist attack near the village of Marah Rabah, situated south of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank. The incident occurred on Monday evening as tensions continue to simmer in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Hussein al-Sheikh, who heads the village council, reported that Israeli colonists driving a vehicle fired shots at a Palestinian-licensed car near the main entrance of the village. The attack resulted in the windshield being shattered and inflicted an injury on one of the passengers.
Violence by colonists against Palestinians and their belongings remains a persistent issue in the West Bank. Such incidents are infrequently addressed through legal action by Israeli authorities. The acts of violence perpetrated by colonists include, but are not limited to, property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and assaults on vulnerable homes.
Currently, there are approximately 1 million Israeli colonists residing in colonies across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, a situation that contravenes international law.
