Bethlehem: Palestinian youth Muheeb Ahmed Jibril, 16, was killed today by Israeli settler gunfire in the town of Tuqu', southeast of Bethlehem. Tuqu' Mayor Muhammad al-Badan reported that the incident took place following the funeral procession for another 16-year-old, Ammar Sabah, who had also been killed.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, after the funeral, as mourners began to leave, several young men stayed behind at the northern entrance of the town. It was then that a colonist reportedly exited his vehicle and fired directly at the group, resulting in the death of Jibril and the serious wounding of another young man.
Al-Badan noted that Jibril is the second Palestinian to be killed in Tuqu' in less than 24 hours. He highlighted the increasing attacks by Israeli settlers and occupation forces against Palestinian civilians. Al-Badan called on the international community to intervene urgently to protect the Palestinian people and to stop the ongoing civilian killings.
