Hebron: Israeli occupation forces on Monday detained a Palestinian victim of a colonist assault in Masafer Yatta, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to local sources. They reported that Israeli colonists, protected by occupation soldiers, entered al-Rakiz hamlet and physically attacked an elderly Palestinian. The assailants also vandalized his dwelling and a nearby fence.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the gun-toting soldiers apprehended the elderly man, identified as Saeed al-'Amur, and transferred him to the Susiya military camp. He was held there for several hours before being released. Following his release, al-'Amur was rushed to Yatta Government Hospital for treatment.
The violence perpetrated by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a regular occurrence in the West Bank. Such acts are seldom prosecuted by Israeli authorities. These acts of violence include property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.
Currently, approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in violation of international law.
