Ramallah: The Presidency has held the Israeli government fully accountable for the inflammatory remarks made by an Israeli Minister against President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership. The comments, made by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, called for the arrest of President Abbas if the United Nations recognizes Palestinian statehood, and suggested the assassination of senior Palestinian officials.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Presidency viewed Ben Gvir's statements as a direct threat to the safety of the Palestinian leader and his leadership team. The remarks were condemned as dangerous incitement that could provoke further violence and acts of terrorism against the Palestinian people, their territory, and sacred sites.
The Presidency urged the US administration and the international community to exert pressure on the Israeli government to cease its incitement against the Palestinian people and their leaders. It warned that such actions would only escalate violence and tension, jeopardizing the peace process that Arab states, the international community, and the US administration are working to rejuvenate.
