Rome: Italian actor and singer, Serena Rossi was appointed Sunday as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), a Rome-based agency that works on the frontlines of hunger in 87 countries providing food assistance to people affected by conflict, climate change, and natural disasters.
According to EMM, in this role, Rossi will amplify the voices of the over 300 million people suffering from acute hunger globally and highlight the humanitarian emergencies that WFP works to address daily in many areas of the world, including Sudan, Palestine, and Haiti.
Rossi recently visited WFP's global headquarters in Rome and met with WFP leadership and staff to learn about the UN agency's work across its various areas of intervention, from school feeding to building resilience, from emergencies to climate change response activities. She also supported WFP in its Sudan campaign through the WFP ShareTheMeal app, with a series of videos on its social media channels.
