Ramallah: Armed Israeli colonists raided the home of the Badr family in the village of Umm Safa, north of Ramallah, before Israeli occupation forces arrived and detained two brothers after beating them severely.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Marwan Al-Sabbah, head of the Umm Safa village council, reported that colonists broke into the family home near the Jabal al-Ras area. During the raid, the colonists vandalized the home's contents and physically assaulted the residents.
Al-Sabbah further stated that the colonists attempted to kidnap the two brothers, Laith and Murhaf. However, the arrival of Israeli soldiers interrupted the attempt. The soldiers proceeded to assault the brothers and detained them, continuing to wreck the inside of the home.
In July 2024, Israeli forces seized control of Jabal al-Ras, a strategic area overlooking Umm Safa. Since then, the area has experienced regular colonist incursions, land leveling, and an increased military presence. These activities have raised concerns about potential settlement expansion and ongoing threats to Palestinian residents and property.
