Gaza: World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Cindy McCain expressed on Thursday the UN agency's readiness to expand its operations in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible. This statement comes in the wake of a ceasefire agreement in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, McCain commented on the situation by aligning with UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres' call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. In a post on her X account, McCain stated, "We must act now to deliver food and life-saving assistance. There is no time to waste." She emphasized the urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian access to deliver essential aid to the Strip.
McCain assured that the WFP is on the ground and prepared to expand its operations, underscoring the necessity of prompt action to address the humanitarian needs in Gaza.
