Gaza: Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa affirmed on Tuesday that our people in the Gaza Strip are in urgent need of collective national effort to heal their wounds and alleviate their suffering.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, at the outset of the weekly Cabinet session held in Ramallah, the Prime Minister stressed that this cannot be achieved without empowering the Palestinian Government to fully assume its responsibilities in implementing the relief and early recovery plan. This plan, supported by all Arab and international partners, aims to strengthen the steadfastness of the people in the Strip.
The Prime Minister reiterated that since its formation, the Government's approach has been one of zero tolerance for violations of law and order and ensuring that all relevant authorities provide services to citizens with dignity and respect. He emphasized the Government's commitment to applying the principles of good governance, transparency, and accountability to reinforce public trust in national institutions.
Mustafa noted that over the past year and a half since the President entrusted the Government with its mandate, it has diligently worked to strengthen participatory engagement with civil society organizations. Many of these organizations have repeatedly commended the Government's approach to reform, institutional development, and good governance. He also highlighted the Government's efforts to enhance the role of the State Audit and Administrative Control Bureau in auditing the performance of national institutions while upholding the independence of the judiciary.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for everyone to act with a sense of national responsibility, refraining from incitement, the spread of rumors, or the dissemination of false or misleading information. He warned that such actions entail legal accountability and underscored the importance of allowing oversight and judicial institutions to carry out their duties.
Mustafa further stressed that despite the immense challenges posed by the ongoing occupation, the extensive destruction in Gaza, and the financial blockade, the Government remains committed to strengthening the performance of national institutions and achieving financial stability. He emphasized the growing international confidence in the institutions of the State of Palestine, as reflected in the New York Declaration and subsequent meetings.
He reaffirmed that the Government will continue to work resolutely toward the fulfillment of all national goals, grounded in the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, public servants, and all national, civil, and private institutions, supported by Arab and international partners.
On a related note, the Cabinet approved recommendations from the High Committee for Securing Sovereign Digital Assets. These include creating backup copies of key national databases to ensure continuity of essential services during emergencies.
The Cabinet also reviewed a draft amendment to the regulation governing the licensing, rehabilitation, and extraction of groundwater wells, aimed at ensuring the sustainability of irrigation sources and protecting farmers from unfair competition.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the decision to appoint a Steering Committee for Beit Ummar Municipality to ensure the continuity of municipal services, and the formation of a Steering Committee for the Economic Recovery and Job Creation Project, aiming to provide temporary job opportunities through local councils and for persons with disabilities.
