Liverpool: British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper described Israel's blocking of essential food and medical supplies into the Gaza Strip as a "moral disgrace."
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Cooper made her remarks during a conference held by her Labour Party in Liverpool on Monday. She emphasized that the UK's recent recognition of the State of Palestine reflects its support for a two-state solution. Cooper stated, "Statehood is an inalienable right of the Palestinian people. Our decision to recognize Palestine demonstrates our belief that the only path to security and lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians is two states living side by side."
Cooper further highlighted Britain's efforts, alongside its international partners, to achieve a ceasefire and lasting peace through a two-state solution. She stressed the global consensus on ending the suffering of children facing starvation and prisoners enduring hardships due to Israel's blockade of essential supplies.
She urged, "The Israeli government must end the moral disgrace of blocking the entry of food, water, and medicine, an act that causes unconscionable human losses. Palestinian civilians should not live in fear and hunger another day. No family should suffer another loss. Enough. We cannot waste a single moment. The time for peace is now."
