New york: Palestine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, urged the international community to stand with the Palestinian people in confronting Israeli occupation and daily violations, ensuring a secure and dignified future for all Palestinians.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Mansour addressed the UN Security Council during its monthly session on the Palestinian issue. He expressed appreciation for the Secretary-General's continued submission of quarterly reports pursuant to Security Council Resolution 2334. These reports provide ongoing monitoring of Israeli violations and accurate documentation of events on the ground.
Mansour emphasized that while Palestine does not celebrate these reports, they are crucial amid the harsh daily reality faced by Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. He detailed the abductions, destruction of neighborhoods, and loss of life and property as part of the dark reality of life under occupation, which he described as unacceptable.
He highlighted the ongoing denial of Palestinians' rights and existence, noting that these actions violate their basic human rights. Mansour affirmed that Palestinians are entitled to inalienable rights such as life, freedom, dignity, and security, and that their current suffering is a direct result of Israeli policies.
Mansour reiterated that Palestine has chosen peaceful action to confront these violations, stressing the need for peace that leads to freedom and security for the Palestinian people. He called for peace to be translated into daily actions on the ground amid ongoing Israeli aggression.
He urged the international community to assume its responsibilities in protecting civilians, halting violations, and facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank. Mansour praised UN member states for their political and financial support and commitments to protect Palestinians and promote the two-state solution.
He referred to the New York Declaration, adopted by 142 countries, as a historic step toward full implementation of international resolutions. Mansour concluded by emphasizing the need to move from the declaration to concrete action on the ground to protect Palestinian civilians and achieve a just and lasting peace.
