Nablus: Armed Israeli colonists on Tuesday evening stormed the outskirts of the Burin village, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to a municipal source. Ibrahim Umran, Head of the Village Council, reported that armed colonists broke into the al-Ayn ash-Sharqiyya area, leading to confrontations with villagers. The assailants opened live fire on the villagers who attempted to fend off the attack, but no injuries were reported.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the occupying forces conducted separate raids in the villages of Bizzariya, Qusra, Kafr Qallil, Burin, Duma, Sebastia, and Beit Furik. During these raids, heavily armed soldiers fired barrages of tear gas canisters at the villagers and conducted provocative tours. Israeli occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank, claiming to search for "wanted" Palestinians, which often triggers clashes with residents.
These raids occur even in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, with no need for a search warrant, as the military operates under sweeping arbitrary powers. Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over the 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank, leaving Palestinians with no say in how this authority is exercised.
