Gaza city: Hospitals across the Gaza Strip reported seven deaths on Saturday, including two children, due to hunger and malnutrition over the past 24 hours.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this tragic development brings the total number of deaths from hunger and malnutrition in the war-torn region to 420, including 145 children. The crisis continues to escalate as malnutrition cases arrive at hospitals across Gaza around the clock. Currently, 900,000 children are suffering from hunger, 70,000 of whom have reached a stage of severe malnutrition.
UNRWA had previously warned that malnutrition among children under five had doubled between March and June due to the ongoing Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip. The dire situation underscores the urgent need for international intervention and aid to address the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.
