Riyadh: President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine welcomed the statements of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, in which he stated, "A solution must be found to the Palestinian issue in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions," during the opening of the Gulf-US Summit held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas praised Saudi Arabia's historic positions in support of the Palestinian people and their cause at all levels, most notably its continued support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
President Abbas emphasized that these steps are essential for achieving a just and lasting peace in the region. He also commended the positions and statements of Gulf leaders supporting the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Abbas noted that all of these positions constitute support for the Palestinian and international stance calling for peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
