Brussels: EU Foreign Ministers agreed on Monday to resume the monitoring mission at the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt, as announced by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas. Kallas emphasized the unanimous agreement among EU member states that the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Rafah (EUBAM Rafah) can contribute significantly to supporting the ceasefire.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Kallas highlighted the decision's potential impact on humanitarian efforts. "Today, EU Foreign Ministers agreed to redeploy it to the Rafah Crossing Point between Gaza and Egypt. This will allow a number of injured individuals to leave Gaza and receive medical care," she stated in a post on X. The redeployment aims to facilitate the movement of people requiring urgent medical attention, underscoring the mission's humanitarian significance amidst ongoing tensions in the region.
