Ramallah: Prisoners' institutions reported on Tuesday that approximately 9,300 Palestinian detainees and prisoners are currently held in Israeli occupation prisons, with the majority being detainees and administrative detainees.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the figures were shared in a joint statement by the institutions, citing data from prisoners' institutions and the Israeli Prison Service as of the beginning of December. The data excludes detainees in camps operated by the Israeli occupation army.
The statement detailed that there are 1,254 sentenced detainees and 51 female detainees, of whom two are minors. Additionally, 350 child detainees are held in Ofer and Megiddo prisons, while the number of administrative detainees stands at 3,350.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted that 1,220 detainees are classified as 'unlawful combatants.' This classification does not encompass all Gaza detainees in army-run camps and includes Arab detainees from Lebanon and Syria.
