The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced, on Friday evening, that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank had risen to 1843 martyrs and 7138 injured.
The Ministry of Health explained in a brief statement that the death toll in the Gaza Strip rose to 1799 martyrs and 6388 injured, and in the West Bank, 44 martyrs and more than 700 injured, of whom about 250 arrived in hospitals.
World Health Organization spokesman Tariq Yasarevic warned during a UN press conference in Geneva that the health system in the Gaza Strip had “reached the breaking point.”
According to the organization, six of the seven major hospitals in the Strip are no longer operating except partially.
Yasarevic said, “Beit Hanoun Hospital in northern Gaza is no longer operating due to successive air strikes near it, which caused damage to the hospital and nearby roads.”
He added that the two main hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip, the Indonesian Hospital and Al-Shifa Hospital, had exceeded their capacity, amounting to a total of 760 beds.
He pointed out that 99% of Shifa Hospital beds are occupied, while hospitals in southern Gaza have reached their maximum capacity.
He pointed out that hospitals only get electricity for a few hours a day to save fuel, which is about to run out.
