Qalandia: The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported on Thursday that 16 Palestinians have sustained injuries following the onset of an Israeli military operation targeting Qalandia refugee camp and the adjacent town of Kafr Aqab, located north of occupied Jerusalem.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the situation escalated as Israeli forces deployed stun grenades at journalists stationed near the entrance of Qalandia refugee camp, compelling them to vacate the area. This move appeared to be a deliberate effort to obstruct media coverage of the ongoing military activities.
Israeli forces further intensified the blockade by shutting down the Jerusalem road that connects Kafr Aqab and Qalandia refugee camp, as well as the main road leading to the camp. This has resulted in a significant challenge for journalists and media personnel attempting to access the area, as the forces imposed stringent restrictions on field reporting.
Throughout the continued military operation, Israeli forces were also reported to have detained and assaulted several young men within Qalandia refugee camp and its neighboring town, Kafr Aqab. These actions form part of the broader incursion strategy adopted during the raid.
