135 International Organizations Urge Honduras to Relocate Its Embassy from

Tegucigalpa: A total of 135 international organizations, including human rights groups, women's and labor organizations, and civil society bodies from various countries, have urged Honduran President Iris Sarmiento to relocate her country's embassy from occupied Jerusalem, in line with international law and United Nations resolutions.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the signatory organizations emphasized in their letter that the status of Jerusalem is a final-status issue. They highlighted that any unilateral measures, such as the transfer or relocation of embassies to the city, constitute a violation of international law and of UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions. These resolutions call on states to refrain from actions that could alter the city's status.

The organizations called on Honduras to respect international consensus and adhere to international legal frameworks. They urged the Honduran government to demonstrate commitment to peace and justice by reconsidering the embassy's location, emphasizing that such actions could contribute to a broader international effort to uphold international law and contribute to a peaceful resolution of the status of Jerusalem.
