Premier to his Bulgarian counterpart: We will never lose hope of peace

RAMALLAH, Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah told his visiting Bulgarian counterpart, Boyko Borrisov, on Thursday that the Palestinians will never lose hope of peace.

We will never lose hope of peace and will continue to strive to get rid of the occupation until we build our modern, independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, and we have all the capabilities to do that, most importantly the Palestinian minds and experts, Hamdallah told his guest during their meeting in Ramallah.

He stressed that the Palestinian leadership will never forfeit the historic rights of the Palestinian people, rejecting what is being talked about regarding a deal of the century, which he said is a prelude to destroy and liquidate the Palestinian cause.

The prime minister called on the European Union to adopt President Mahmoud Abbas’ initiative be presented at the United Nations Security Council in December which calls for an international peace conference to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and not to leave the Middle East peace process solely in the hands of the United States, particularly since the current administration of President Donald Trump has proven in practice that it is not qualified to play the honest mediator role.

Hamdallah expressed his appreciation to Bulgaria for its support of the Palestinian issue and for voting in favor of Palestine in international forums, in addition to its rejection of Israeli settlements, which are a tool to destroy the two-state solution and the dream of an independent Palestinian state.

The two officials discussed strengthening cooperation between their countries, particularly in technical education. An agreement on education was signed at the conclusion of the meeting.
