Gaza: Minister of Health Majed Abu Ramadan announced the conclusion of the emergency polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Governorate. Abu Ramadan revealed that on the fourth day of the campaign alone, 297 children were vaccinated in Gaza City, bringing the total number of vaccinated children in the city to 105,558.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the minister stated that the total number of vaccinated children in the second round across the Gaza Strip reached 556,774, achieving a coverage rate of 94 percent for children under the age of 10 years. Despite this success, Abu Ramadan highlighted a significant concern: children in the North Gaza Governorate remain deprived of the second dose of the vaccine.
The ongoing aggression by the Israeli occupation has led to the targeting of treatment and vaccination centers and imposed mobility restrictions, he explained. This situation poses a grave risk to Palestinian children, as the second dose is crucial for achieving full immunity and
preventing future transmission of the virus.
