JERUSALEM, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Yousef Id’es said, in a statement Sunday, that in March alone, Israeli authorities banned the Muslim call for prayer at the Ibrahim Mosque in Hebron 52 times under the pretext that the call was annoying to Israeli settlers.
Id’es said Israel is using this policy, in addition to the intensified military measures on the entrances of the mosque, to abuse Muslims and ban them from praying at the mosque
This is an attack on religion and freedom of worshipping, Id’es said in the statement, stressing Israel is trying hard to control the Ibrahimi mosque.
Id’es added that Israeli forces inspect Muslim worshippers and force them into going through electronic metal detectors and military checkpoints on the way to the mosque.
